On Friday, I purchased my first jar of Nutella. The first time I tried Nutella was on study abroad in New Zealand. My flat mate, Melissa, was obsessed with the stuff. I was on the fence about it and didn’t become an instant addict. I think I’m still on the fence about it, but it sure makes for a good brownie. I’m not the world’s biggest chocolate fan will always pick citrus or vanilla desserts over chocolate, but every once in a while, I’ll be hit with a huge craving for a brownie. Friday was that day.
Makes 1 8×8 pan of brownies
Slightly adapted from this recipe
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup nutella
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup Earth Balance (Or use real butter. We were just out of real butter.)
1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
2. Cream sugar, eggs and Earth Balance in mixer or by hand. Add Nutella, salt and vanilla. Finally, incorporate the flour.
3. Pour into a greased 8×8 pan and bake until a tooth pick comes out clean, or about 45 minutes.
We went off to a friend’s engagement party before we had the chance to try them, but when we got back home, they were the perfect late night snack. They were fudgy, tender and slightly nutty from the Nutella. Those and some Stacy’s garlic and parmesan pita chips. Dinner of champions! A simple and fast brownie recipe for when a craving hits you! Enjoy!
Be well & happy eating!
